How we impact the environment?

We are polluting the environment at an unprecedented rate and the final impact is something that we will have to tolerate.  Here are some movie clips of Midway Island in Pacific ocean.

  1. I just watched these and talked to my mom about it and she said that my cousin is in the Navy and when their tour is done they take all of their stuff, like clothes, sleeping bags, etc. and just dump them off the back of the boat. It seriously is so sad how people just throw away whatever with no realization of the effect it has on other people.

  2. Thanks Sam! I think we will have to be more careful in polluting our planet because will will have to pay for the consequences.

  3. I didn't realize how much of an impact I myself could even have on this problem until the lady laid out all the garbage that has come from the albatross's stomachs. People need to start really caring about our earths environmental problems

  4. I also liked that section where she shows all the stomach contents. Golf balls and toys were hard to believe items. Thanks!

  5. That's a lot of plastic, and when the lady laid it all out, organized, it was really evident how big of a problem it is. All that plastic has to be re used somehow, and I think a big problem is that here in the US, there is no where we can take it to recycle it. I cant put old toothbrushes in the blue recycle bin. So what must happen is that businesses or the government must create a way for those products to be easily recycled. It'd be a start.

  6. You are right Curt. I think we should take more agressive steps to deal with the plastic recycling. I did read it last year that there is a company that makes biodegradable plastic from corn, maybe that is the solution to our garbage problems. Thanks!

I watched this video in an aquarium in San Fransisco. The video itself is funny however the reality of it isn't. I just wonder how many more different animals accidentally feed on plastic trash and die because of it.

  10. so every plastic bag in China is officially unfree in charge.
and since most Chinese people love to save every penny, people in china rarely ever purchase groceries with plastic bags anymore.
yay for steps toward saving the planet!
(i know this is a really late comment, but i felt like discussing this news-ish)
i showed these videos to my mom the other day and she told me about what the chinese government did to somewhat help the planet
